This day I live, not
for me, but for you.
To end it all, would mean to you
nothing at all. Woe is me, I live.

AT&T and Verizon Lawsuit

Life

Being a long time AT&T subscriber, I have come up with the perfect response AT&T should use as counter-marketing.

Copy, basically, the Verizon commercial except add some additional visuals….focus on the Verizon map of the US and then overlay it across a spinning globe, showing coverage area.

Then do the same for their own coverage area in the US, then overlay it across the globe.

See who has better coverage then….am fairly certain AT&T wins that battle as GSM is a more widely adopted technology outside of the US compared to CDMA.

I tried to confirm my speculation, but unfortunately the number of hoops you have to jump through to view such a map is directly proportional to how good their coverage is in my opinion.  AT&T wasn’t all that difficult, considering GSM technology has about an 81% market share:  http://www.coveragemaps.com/gsmposter_world.htm

Finding a CDMA map however, I had no luck.  Verizon’s(Like AT&T’s) website does not offer an all in one downloaded map, the best option I could seem to find would be located here:  http://www.cdg.org/worldwide/index.asp

AT&T would of course need a disclaimer stating not all services may be available in all areas, but I think that goes without saying.  Personally, I would rather have a signal for a voice call in more places, than a 3G/Edge connection as that voice signal could be what saves my life.  Not a data connection to the internet.  At least it is a lot less likely a life savor.
